This week, Professor Jodi Dean was dismissed from Hobart and William Smith Colleges over her article in support of Palestinian armed resistance. This is just the latest in a series of attacks on student and academic supporters of Palestine in the US as the ruling class defends the genocidal status quo.
Like many pro-Palestine student organizations in the US, Central Ohio Revolutionary Socialists are facing undemocratic repression. They’ve been suspended from Ohio State University, and accused of being a dangerous presence on campus. We are republishing their statement and demands along with a link to their petition in solidarity.
As social media plays an increasingly large role in our lives, be it through innocuous and idle chatter or political organizing, the state has in turn become increasingly wary of – and in thrall to – its influence. As socialists, we must act to prevent the state from turning the foremost app of oru current time – TikTok – into yet another tool for imperialism.
