Many people mean many different things when they use the term “socialism.” It has been incorrectly used to describe reforms under capitalism in the West, and Stalinist bureaucratic state capitalism in the East. Revolutionary socialists or communists must be clear about what they mean by a truly socialist society — and this means being clear about the revolutionary historical stages it will take to get there.
